If you openly declare that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by openly declaring your faith that you are saved.”

Do I really need to pray?

June 25

BIBLE MEDITATION:
But know that the Lord hath set apart him that is godly for Himself: the Lord will hear when I call unto Him.
Psalm 4:3
DEVOTIONAL THOUGHT:
If ever there was a reason to pray, it would be that Jesus has told us to (see Luke 18:1b). Yet since Matthew 6:8 says, “Your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask Him,” you may wonder, “Why do I need to talk to God about my needs?”
Prayer is not overcoming God’s reluctance; it’s laying hold of His willingness. It’s part of God’s grand scheme that He has given us the privilege to cooperate with Him in prayer.
ACTION POINT:
Ephesians 6:18 tells us to pray “in the Spirit.” Any prayer that the Holy Spirit lays upon your heart will be answered, because the prayer that gets to heaven is the prayer that starts in heaven. We just close the circuit.

The LORD’s “Much More”

“And Amaziah said to the man of God, But what shall we do for the hundred talents which I have given to the army of Israel? And the man of God answered, The LORD is able to give thee much more than this”   (2 Chronicles 25:9).

If you have made a mistake, bear the loss of it; but do not act contrary to the will of the LORD. The LORD can give you much more than you are likely to lose; and if He does not, will you begin bargaining and chaffering with God. The king of Judahhad hired an army from idolatrous Israel, and he was commanded to send home the fighting men because the LORD was not with them. He was willing to send away the host, only he grudged paying the hundred talents for nothing. Oh, for shame! If the LORD will give the victory without the hirelings, surely it was a good bargain to pay their wages and to be rid of them.

Be willing to lose money for conscience’ sake, for peace’s sake, for Christ’s sake. Rest assured that losses for the LORD are not losses. Even in this life they are more than recompensed: in some cases the LORD prevents any loss from happening. As to our immortal life, what we lose for Jesus is invested in heaven. Fret not at apparent disaster but listen to the whisper, “The LORD is able to give thee much more than this.”

This is what the Lord says, the Holy One of Israel, the one who formed him, concerning things to come: “How dare you question me about my children! How dare you tell me what to do with the work of my own hands! (Isa 45:11)

Our Lord spoke in this tone when He said, “Father, I will.” Joshua used it when, in the supreme moment of triumph, he lifted up his spear toward the setting sun, and cried, “Sun, stand thou still!”

Elijah used it when he shut the heavens for three years and six months, and again opened them.

Luther used it when, kneeling by the dying Melanchthon, he forbade death to take his prey.

It is a marvelous relationship into which God bids us enter. We are familiar with words like those which follow in this paragraph: “I, even my hands, have stretched out the heavens, and all their host have I commanded.” But that God should invite us to command Him, this is a change in relationship which is altogether startling!

What a difference there is between this attitude and the hesitating, halting, unbelieving prayers to which we are accustomed, and which by their perpetual repetition lose edge and point!

How often during His earthly life did Jesus put men into a position to command Him! When entering Jericho, He stood still, and said to the blind beggars:

“What will ye that I shall do unto you?” It was as though He said, “I am yours to command.”

Can we ever forget how He yielded to the Syrophenician woman the key to His resources and told her to help herself even as she would?

What mortal mind can realize the full significance of the position to which our God lovingly raises His little children? He seems to say, “All my resources are at your command.” “Whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do.”
—F. B. Meyer

Say to this mountain, “Go,
Be cast into the sea”;
And doubt not in thine heart
That it shall be to thee.
It shall be done, doubt not His Word,
Challenge thy mountain in the Lord!

Claim thy redemption right,
Purchased by precious blood;
The Trinity unite
To make it true and good.
It shall be done, obey the Word
Challenge thy mountain in the Lord!

Self, sickness, sorrow, sin,
The Lord did meet that day
On His beloved One,
And thou art “loosed away.”
It has been done, rest on His Word,
Challenge thy mountain in the Lord!

Compass the frowning wall
With silent prayer, then raise—
Before its ramparts fall—
The victor’s shout of praise.
It shall be done, faith rests assured,
Challenge thy mountain in the Lord!

The two-leaved gates of brass,
The bars of iron yield,
To let the faithful pass,
Conquerors in every field.
It shall be done, the foe ignored,
Challenge thy mountain in the Lord!

Take then the faith of God,
Free from the taint of doubt;
The miracle-working rod
That casts all reasoning’ out.
It shall be done, stand on the Word,
Challenge thy mountain in the Lord!

Happy Sunday Morning Friends:
It is just after 5AM, I just finished lifting up my morning Prayers
to my GOD in Heaven and He placed it upon my heart to be sure
that you knew this:
I ASSURE you that it is straight from Him and that He wanted me to tell YOU!
As you can see, this morning’s Blog is entitled:
“You Are A Wanted Child!”
Here is the simple message that GOD placed upon my heart to tell you:
1.) GOD Truly does LOVE YOU;
2.) He wants you to be in Heaven with Him when you die;
3.) But there is a PROBLEM: Since Adam & Eve’s BIG mistake,
   the entire Human Race has been infected with a disease,
   And there is ONLY ONE CURE!
   If you don’t get cured of this disease, you cannot get into Heaven with GOD:
   The disease is SIN, The ONLY cure for it is Jesus Christ.
   See, GOD is the Sovereign King and Creator of the Universe.
   He sets the Rules!
   His Rule is that you cannot have the Disease called Sin and get into Heaven for Eternity;
   If you die without the only Cure: Jesus Christ: You will be Eternally separated
   from GOD and at the Great White Throne Judgment,
   described in Revelation Chapter 20,
   if you still have that Disease, Angels will take you and toss you into
   the Lake of Fire… for Eternity, there will be no end.
   On the other hand, if you accept the Cure that our Sovereign GOD
   has provided, you will spend Eternity in Heaven, with Him!
   Again: GOD does LOVE you and He wants you in Heaven with Him!
   Over 2,000 years ago, GOD showed His Mercy upon the entire Human Race
   by sending His Only Begotten Son, Jesus Christ, the CURE for the Disease, to Shed His
   Sin-Free Blood and Die on that Cross outside of Jerusalem
   as Payment, the CURE for your sins, ALL of them!
   You will be Cured of the disease if, on Faith:
      (That is: Just BELIEVE this Cure because GOD Said it is the Cure:
   Faith is NOT a feeling or emotion, it is just a belief in GOD’s Promises!
   John 3:16 makes it Very Clear:
      FOR GOD SO LOVED THE WORLD THAT HE GAVE HIS ONLY BEGOTTEN
      SON, THAT WHOSOEVER (YOU) BELIEVETH IN HIM SHALL HAVE
      EVERLASTING (ETERNAL) LIFE!)
Now: Here is what our Sovereign GOD has Ruled regarding that word:
BELIEVETH IN HIM:
1.) Believe that Jesus Christ died on the Cross at Calvary in payment for your Sins,
ALL OF THEM;
2.) Believe that His Dead Body was placed in a Borrowed Tomb;
3.) That He Arose from the Dead (Was Resurrected) on the 3rd Day
We now call Easter;
4.) Was seen by over 500 people here on earth after His Resurrection and;
5.) Ascended back into Heaven in front of the Galileans;
(Acts 1:9-12)
6.)To sit upon His Throne at the Right-Hand of GOD His/our Father,
As our High Priest, Advocate, LORD and Savior.
If you believe that, on Faith, and will say this simple Prayer:
LORD, I confess that I am a sinner,
By Faith, I accept Jesus Christ as my Personal LORD & Savior,
I Repent of all of my sins and ask You to forgive my sins,
I give control of my life over to Jesus,
In Jesus’ Precious Name I Pray,
Amen.
It is so simple, if you said that Prayer and truly meant it,
You now are Cured of the Disease called sin and have your
Lifetime Ticket, AS OF RIGHT NOW,
Into Heaven!
You have been Born Again, Spiritually, into the Kingdom of Heaven!
Welcome!

The Inspired, Inerrant, Infallible Word of GOD,
Pray OFTEN to Him by telling Him that:
1.) You Adore Him,
2.) Confess your sins to Him, because, although you have
been forgiven of your sins, you are STILL going to occasionally sin,
But, as a Born-Again Christian, you will not enjoy it and,
You will fall out of Fellowship with Him if you don’t confess your sins
to Him and ask forgiveness: You STILL have your place in Heaven,
You can NEVER lose that once you have accepted Jesus
As your Personal Savior, but you should daily, Pray to GOD, in the Name of Jesus,
And confess and ask forgiveness of you sins.
<<<<<<<<<<>>>>>>>>>>
(Please see the 10 Commandments: Exodus Chapter 20:

3.) Thank Him for the Blessings you have received;
4.) Although He already knows it: Tell Him about your needs
And Thank Him for providing them for you, in other words:
Pray with the Faith that GOD will provide all of those needs
For yourself and others that you Pray for!
Thank you for taking the time to read this message that The LORD
placed upon my heart this morning!

was ascending back into Heaven, He told the disciples to preach repentance and forgiveness,
and promised that they will have divine power.)

Do Not Fear Those Who Can Kill Only the Body

December 07, 2017

What if someone broke into your house and threatened to kill you? How do you think you or I might react?

What if you were about to be killed because of your faith in Christ? What do you think you would say or do?

Or what if the fears of some came true, and the nuclear bombs began to fall?  How do you think we would respond? Does the Bible have anything to say to us about such horrible and catastrophic events?

Earlier this week I read a scripture in which Jesus specifically addresses such fears. (I had not read it in a while, and it got my attention precisely because I myself have feared the kinds of things I just mentioned.)  Jesus said, “And do not fear those who can kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather fear him who can kill both body and soul in hell.” (Matthew 10:28).

These words of Jesus are sobering to say the least. But they are also comforting!

Imagine you were a Christian in a part of the world where some people wanted to kill you just because you believed Jesus is the Son of God. Your potential persecutors would of course want you to fear them, but would they have ever heard this verse where Jesus says not to fear those who can kill only the body but instead to fear only Him who can destroy both body and soul in hell? (Then your persecutors would be the ones who should be afraid for what they are about to do!)

Persecution, and even being killed for our faith, can happen in America. Christians have been shot in church worshipping God. It happened at Mother Emmanuel Church in Charleston, S.C. and at First Baptist Church in Sutherland Springs, TX.  Be honest. Have you feared that? Could such a fear keep you from going to church? Jesus says that a crazy shooter could kill your body but not your soul, and for that reason you should not fear such a person! He says you and I should fear only the One who can destroy both body and soul in hell.

March 5

Morning …

1 Thessalonians 5:6
Let us not sleep, as do others.

There are many ways of promoting Christian wakefulness. Among the rest, let me strongly advise Christians to converse together concerning the ways of the Lord. Christian and Hopeful, as they journeyed towards the Celestial City, said to themselves, “To prevent drowsiness in this place, let us fall into good discourse.” Christian enquired, “Brother, where shall we begin?” And Hopeful answered, “Where God began with us.” Then Christian sang this song-

“When saints do sleepy grow, let them come hither,
And hear how these two pilgrims talk together;
Yea, let them learn of them, in any wise,
Thus to keep open their drowsy slumb’ring eyes.
Saints’ fellowship, if it be managed well,
Keeps them awake, and that in spite of hell.”

Christians who isolate themselves and walk alone, are very liable to grow drowsy. Hold Christian company, and you will be kept wakeful by it, and refreshed and encouraged to make quicker progress in the road to heaven. But as you thus take “sweet counsel” with others in the ways of God, take care that the theme of your converse is the Lord Jesus. Let the eye of faith be constantly looking unto Him; let your heart be full of Him; let your lips speak of His worth. Friend, live near to the cross, and thou wilt not sleep. Labour to impress thyself with a deep sense of the value of the place to which thou art going. If thou rememberest that thou art going to heaven, thou wilt not sleep on the road. If thou thinkest that hell is behind thee, and the devil pursuing thee, thou wilt not loiter. Would the manslayer sleep with the avenger of blood behind him, and the city of refuge before him? Christian, wilt thou sleep whilst the pearly gates are open-the songs of angels waiting for thee to join them-a crown of gold ready for thy brow? Ah! no; in holy fellowship continue to watch and pray that ye enter not into temptation.

Why I Believe in the Return of Christ

God continues to bless Sagemont Church.  In the last two Sundays, over 100 people have made public decisions to make Jesus Christ Lord of their life.  Pastors Chuck Schneider, Stuart Rothberg, and Jim Hastings have been teaching the scriptures as both the Old and New Testaments prophesy and proclaim that Jesus Christ is coming back to this earth again to claim and receive His children unto Himself.  During the worship services, I am preaching the message and promise of the return of Christ.

One may ask, “Pastor, why do you passionately believe that Jesus is literally going to return to the earth?”  These are a few reasons:

Why I Believe in the Return of Christ

  1.  Jesus said He would!  John 14:3 “I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also.”
  2.  The entire Christian view of history demands it.
  3. The prophetic signs found in scripture are now clearly being fulfilled.
  • Earthquakes all over the globe.  Matthew 24:7 – (over 20,000 since 1971)
  • Hearts will fail for fear.  Luke 21:26 –  Suicides are epidemic.
  • Great explosions of learning.  II Timothy 3:7 – People cannot discern the truth.
  • Immorality abounds.  Luke 17:26-27 – Like the days of Noah.

Scripture clearly teaches that Jesus will come to save His children and judge the rest.

God and Churchill

godchurchillI have just completed reading one of the best books that I have read in the last twenty years.  God and Churchill, written by one of our newest Sagemont members Jonathan Sandys (pronounced “sands”), great-grandson of Sir Winston Churchill.  Wallace Henley, staff member at Second Baptist Church, Houston, assisted Jonathan in this profound book.  The purpose of the book is to make clear “how the great leader’s sense of divine destiny changed his troubled world and offers help for ours.”  Tyndale Momentum is the publisher.  The book has many profound quotes.  However, there is one that has impacted my life more than many others.  Prime Minister of Great Britain, Margaret Thatcher, addressing the Church of Scotland General Assembly in 1988, said “I think back to many discussions in my early life when we all agreed that if you try to take the fruits of Christianity without its roots, the fruits will wither.  And they will not come back unless you nurture the roots.”

One of the responsibilities of the Bride of Christ, the Church, is to keep Christianity on track and prevent the derailing of His ultimate purpose.  The paganism that is engulfing us today will ultimately destroy us unless we return to the roots of our faith.  “Our faith is built on nothing less than Jesus’ blood and righteousness.”  It is on the solid rock we must stand for truly all other ground is sinking sand.

Note:  The book God and Churchill is available in the Sagemont Bookstore.

Are you the Gnat or the Bee?

June 24

BIBLE MEDITATION:
For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass. For he beholdeth himself, and goeth his way, and straightway forgetteth what manner of man he was. But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed.”
James 1:23-25
DEVOTIONAL THOUGHT:
This guy is a man in a hurry (v. 23-24). He has a lot on his mind. He takes a quick glimpse in a mirror, then rushes on. If the Bible is like a mirror, then he’s getting just a glimpse in the Word but not really applying it to his life.
Most Christians I know today are this kind of Bible student—a gnat bouncing here and there—rather than a bee, diving in and staying long enough to extract the sweetness.
In contrast, the man in verse 25 gazes steadily into the Word. He delights in God’s Word, applies God’s Word, and cherishes God’s Word.
Are you like that? Or do you take a passing glance at the Word and move on to the next thing on your “to do” list?
ACTION POINT:
Which sounds more like you…the passing glance or the careful gaze?

The Enemy Frustrated

“Therefore thus saith the LORD concerning the king of Assyria, He shall not come into this city, nor shoot an arrow there, nor come before it with shield, nor cast a bank against it”   (2 Kings 19:32).

Neither did Sennacherib molest the city. He had boasted loudly, but he could not carry out his threats. The LORD is able to stop the enemies of His people in the very act. When the lion has the lamb between his jaws, the great Shepherd of the sheep can rob him of his prey. Our extremity only provides an opportunity for a grander display of divine power and wisdom.

In the case before us, the terrible foe did not put in an appearance before the city which he thirsted to destroy. No annoying arrow could he shoot over the walls, and no besieging engines could- he put to work to batter down the castles, and no banks could he cast up to shut in the inhabitants. Perhaps in our case also the LORD will prevent our adversaries from doing us the least harm. Certainly He can alter their intentions or render their designs so abortive that they will gladly forego them. Let us trust in the LORD and keep His way, and He will take care of us. Yea, He will fill us with wondering praise as we see the perfection of His deliverance.

Let us not fear the enemy till he actually comes, and then let us trust in the LORD.

JUNE 24
So he said, “Come.” Peter got out of the boat, walked on the water, and came toward Jesus. But when he saw the strong wind he became afraid. And starting to sink, he cried out, “Lord, save me!” (Matthew 14:29-30)
Peter had a little faith in the midst of his doubts, says Bunyan; and so with crying and coming he was brought to Christ.
But here you see that sight was a hindrance; the waves were none of his business when once he had set out; all Peter had any concern with, was the pathway of light that came gleaming across the darkness from where Christ stood. If it was tenfold Egypt beyond that, Peter had no call to look and see.
When the Lord shall call to you over the waters, “Come,” step gladly forth. Look not for a moment away from Him.
Not by measuring the waves can you prevail; not by gauging the wind will you grow strong; to scan the danger may be to fall before it; to pause at the difficulties, is to have them break above your head. Lift up your eyes unto the hills, and go forward—there is no other way.
“Dost thou fear to launch away?
Faith lets go to swim!
Never will He let thee go;
’Tis by trusting thou shalt know
Fellowship with Him.”

Sunday Morning Service

========================================================================

March 5

“When saints do sleepy grow, let them come hither,
And hear how these two pilgrims talk together;

BIBLE MEDITATION:
According as He hath chosen us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before Him in love.
Ephesians 1:4
DEVOTIONAL THOUGHT:
The Holy Trinity worked together for your salvation.
  •    God the Father thought it
  •    God the Spirit wrought it
  •    God the Son bought it
Christians are God’s special chosen ones. Are you a believer? Then you are a wanted child. Your salvation didn’t “just happen.” You are “chosen…in the beloved.” Look at Ephesians 1:4-6
According as He hath chosen us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before Him in love: Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the good pleasure of His will, to the praise of the glory of His grace, wherein He hath made us accepted in the beloved.
The Word of God is telling you that God chose you before the foundation of the world. Before He swung the stars into space, before He planted the seeds, before He built the mountains, before all of that, you were in the heart and mind of God. How special you are to God!
ACTION POINT:
God the Father sent His Spirit into the world to select and sanctify His children for His holy purpose. We are utterly dependent upon the Spirit for our salvation. And we seek Him because He first sought us!

He with Us; We with Him
“The fear of the LORD prolongeth days: but the years of the wicked shall be shortened”   (Proverbs 10:27).
There is no doubt about it. The fear of the LORD leads to virtuous habits, and these prevent that waste of life which comes of sin and vice. The holy rest which springs out of faithin the LORD Jesus also greatly helps a man when he is ill. Every physician rejoices to have a patient whose mind is fully at ease. Worry kills, but confidence in God is like healing medicine.
We have therefore all the arrangements for long life, and if it be really for our good, we shall see a good old age and come to our graves as shocks of corn in their season. Let us not be overcome with sudden expectation of death the moment we have a finger-ache, but let us rather expect that we may have to work on through a considerable length of days.
And what if we should soon be called to the higher sphere? Certainly there would be nothing to deplore in such a summons but everything to rejoice in. Living or dying we are the LORD’s. If we live, Jesus will be with us; if we die, we shall be with Jesus.
The truest lengthening of life is to live while we live, wasting no time but using every hour for the highest ends. So be it this day.

JUNE 23
Hatred stirs up dissension, but love covers all transgressions. (Prov 10:12)
Rehearse your troubles to God only. Not long ago I read in a paper a bit of personal experience from a precious child of God, and it made such an impression upon me that I record it here. She wrote:
“I found myself one midnight wholly sleepless as the surges of a cruel injustice swept over me, and the love which covers seemed to have crept out of my heart. Then I cried to God in an agony for the power to obey His injunction, ’Love covereth.’
“Immediately the Spirit began to work in me the power that brought about the forgetfulness.
“Mentally I dug a grave. Deliberately I threw up the earth until the excavation was deep.
“Sorrowfully I lowered into it the thing which wounded me. Quickly I shoveled in the clods.
“Over the mound I carefully laid the green sods. Then I covered it with white roses and forget-me-nots, and quickly walked away.
“Sweet sleep came. The wound which had been so nearly deadly was healed without a scar, and I know not today what caused my grief.”
“There was a scar on yonder mountain-side,
Gashed out where once the cruel storm had trod;
A barren, desolate chasm, reaching wide,
Across the soft green sod.
“But years crept by beneath the purple pines,
And veiled the scar with grass and moss once more,
And left it fairer now with flowers and vines
Than it had been before.
“There was a wound once in a gentle heart,
Whence all life’s sweetness seemed to ebb and die;
And love’s confiding changed to bitter smart,
While slow, sad years went by.
“Yet as they passed, unseen an angel stole
And laid a balm of healing on the pain,
Till love grew purer in the heart made whole,
And peace came back again.”

“When saints do sleepy grow, let them come hither,
And hear how these two pilgrims talk together;

Are you a friend you’d want to have?
BIBLE MEDITATION:
Finally, be ye all of one mind, having compassion one of another, love as brethren, be pitiful, be courteous.
 1 Peter 3:8
DEVOTIONAL THOUGHT:
A recent study just revealed that the average adult has not made a new friend—not even one—in the last five years. Why is it so hard to make a new friend or to find one? Maybe because we’re too busy. Maybe because we lack the five qualities of friendship. Take this quiz. Give yourself 20 points for each quality manifested in your life:
  1. Harmony. We are to be of one mind, not necessarily singing the same note, but complementing one another.
  2. Sympathy. We hurt when friends hurt. The world is looking for friends like this.
  3. Fraternity. We are to love one another like brothers. There is no brotherhood like the brotherhood in Jesus Christ.
  4. Empathy. If you want to be a real friend, you’re going to have to feel deeply. You’ll need to put yourself in the place of the other person.
  5. Humility. Genuine courtesy is thinking of the other person’s needs before your own. You are less concerned with your rights, and more concerned about the relationship.
ACTION POINT:
How did you score? Four out of five give you 80%–that’s just barely a “B.” Begin to develop these characteristics of friendship in your life and watch God change your world!

A Woman’s War
“The LORD shall sell Sisera into the hand of a woman”
 (Judges 4:9).
Rather an unusual text, but there may be souls in the world that may have faith enough to grasp it. Barak, the man, though called to the war, had little stomach for the fight unless Deborah would go with him, and so the LORD determined to make it a woman’s war. By this means He rebuked the slackness of the man, gained for Himself the more renown, and cast the more shame upon the enemies of His people.
The LORD can still use feeble instrumentalities. Why not me? He may use persons who are not commonly called to great public engagements. Why not you? The woman who slew the enemy of Israel was no Amazon but a wife who tarried in her tent. She was no orator but a woman who milked the cows and made butter. May not the LORD use any one of us to accomplish His purpose? Somebody may come to the house today, even as Sisera came to Jael’s tent. Be it ours not to slay him, but to save him. Let us receive him with great kindness and then bring forth the blessed truth of salvation by the LORD Jesus, our great Substitute, and press home the command “Believe and live.” Who knoweth but some stout-hearted sinner may be slain by the gospel today!

Now after some days, when he returned to Capernaum, the news spread that he was at home. (Mark 2:1)
The polyps which construct the coral reefs, work away under water, never dreaming that they are building the foundation of a new island on which, by-and-by, plants and animals will live and children of God be born and fitted for eternal glory as joint-heirs of Christ.
If your place in God’s ranks is a hidden and secluded one, beloved, do not murmur, do not complain, do not seek to get out of God’s will, if He has placed you there; for without the polyps, the coral reefs would never be built, and God needs some who are willing to be spiritual polyps, and work away out of sight of men, but sustained by the Holy Ghost and in full view of Heaven.
The day will come when Jesus will give the rewards, and He makes no mistakes, although some people may wonder how you came to merit such a reward, as they had never heard of you before.

Just where you stand in the conflict,
There is your place.
Just where you think you are useless,
Hide not your face.
God placed you there for a purpose,
Whate’er it be;
Think He has chosen you for it;
Work loyally.
Gird on your armor! Be faithful
At toil or rest!
Whate’er it be, never doubting
God’s way is best.
Out in the fight or on picket,
Stand firm and true;
This is the work which your Master
Gives you to do.

Don’t drop that priceless heirloom!
BIBLE MEDITATION:
Now also when I am old and gray-headed, O God, forsake me not; until I have shown Thy strength unto this generation, and Thy power to every one that is to come.
Psalm 71:18
DEVOTIONAL THOUGHT:
The early Christians turned the world upside down. Their charge and ours today is the same—it is to rescue the perishing and care for the dying, to go to the helpless ones and tell them Jesus saves.
I heard about a little girl who said to her mother, “Do you remember that priceless vase we all love so much that’s been handed down to our family from one generation to another?” The mother said, “Yes.” The little girl sheepishly said, “Well, this generation just dropped it.”
Now friend, our generation cannot drop it.
ACTION POINT:
The faith we received, the faith we enjoy, and the faith that gives us eternal life, must be handed down from generation to generation. We must not drop this priceless heirloom that God has placed into our hands.

The LORD Our Companion
“Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for Thou art with me; Thy Rod and Thy Staff they comfort me”
(Psalm 23:4).
Sweet are these words in describing a deathbed assurance. How many have repeated them in their last hours with intense delight!
But the verse is equally applicable to agonies of spirit in the midst of life. Some of us, like Paul, die daily through a tendency to gloom of soul. Bunyan puts the Valley of the Shadow of Death far earlier in the pilgrimage than the river which rolls at the foot of the celestial hills. We have some of us traversed the dark and dreadful defile of “the shadow of death” several times, and we can bear witness that the LORD alone enabled us to bear up amid its wild thought, its mysterious horrors, its terrible depressions. The LORD has sustained us and kept us above all real fear of evil, even when our spirit has been overwhelmed. We have been pressed and oppressed, but yet we have lived, for we have felt the presence of the Great Shepherd and have been confident that His crook would prevent the foe from giving us any deadly wound.

============================================================================

JUNE 21
You will hear a word spoken behind you, saying, “This is the correct way, walk in it,” whether you are heading to the right or the left. (Isa 30:21)
When we are in doubt or difficulty, when many voices urge this course or the other, when prudence utters one advice and faith another, then let us be still, hushing each intruder, calming ourselves in the sacred hush of God’s presence; let us study His Word in the attitude of devout attention; let us lift up our nature into the pure light of His face, eager only to know what God the Lord shall determine—and ere long a very distinct impression will be made, the unmistakable forth-telling of His secret counsel.
It is not wise in the earlier stages of Christian life to depend on this alone, but to wait for the corroboration of circumstances. But those who have had many dealings with God know well the value of secret fellowship with Him, to ascertain His will.
Are you in difficulty about your way? Go to God with your question; get direction from the light of His smile or the cloud of His refusal.
If you will only get alone, where the lights and shadows of earth cannot interfere, where human opinions fail to reach and if you will dare to wait there silent and expectant, though all around you insist on immediate decision or action—the will of God will be made clear; and you will have a new conception of God, a deeper insight into His nature and heart of love, which shall be for yourself alone a rapturous experience, to abide your precious perquisite forever, the rich guerdon of those long waiting hours.
—David
“STAND STILL,” my soul, for so thy Lord commands:
E’en when thy way seems blocked, leave it in His wise hands;
His arm is mighty to divide the wave.
“Stand still,” my soul, “stand still” and thou shalt see
How God can work the “impossible” for thee,
For with a great deliverance He doth save.
Be not impatient, but in stillness stand,
Even when compassed ’round on every hand,
In ways thy spirit does not comprehend.
God cannot clear thy way till thou art still,
That He may work in thee His blessed will,
And all thy heart and will to Him do bend.
“BE STILL,” my soul, for just as thou art still,
Can God reveal Himself to thee; until
Through thee His love and light and life can freely flow;
In stillness God can work through thee and reach
The souls around thee. He then through thee can teach
His lessons, and His power in weakness show.
“BE STILL”—a deeper step in faith and rest.
“Be still and know” thy Father knoweth best
The way to lead His child to that fair land,
A “summer” land, where quiet waters flow;
Where longing souls are satisfied, and “know
Their God,” and praise for all that He has planned.

GODLINESS EXALTS A NATION, BUT SIN

Sunday Morning Service

========================================================================

March 5

“When saints do sleepy grow, let them come hither,
And hear how these two pilgrims talk together;

You cannot grow without this!
BIBLE MEDITATION:
For after that, in the wisdom of God, the world by wisdom knew not God, it pleased God, by the foolishness of preaching, to save them that believe.
1 Corinthians 1:21
DEVOTIONAL THOUGHT:
Before God created man, He already knew we could never know Him just by our own wisdom. However smart we think we are, our intellect can never fully reveal God to us. He must reveal to us who He is. And the way He has chosen to do this is through His Son, the Lord Jesus Christ, and through His Word.
Therefore, the Word of God is indispensable.
  •     It’s indispensable for salvation. We are conceived by it. We’re “born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the Word of God, which liveth and abideth forever.”
  • 1 Peter 1:23
  •     The Word of God is indispensable for sanctification. We are cleansed by it. “Seeing ye have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit unto unfeigned love of the brethren.” 1 Peter 1:22
  •     The Word of God is indispensable for sustenance. We are completed by it. “And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to Me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on Me shall never thirst”John 6:35
How important is the Word?
For the Word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.Hebrews 4:12
The Word of God is living, dynamic, and cuts through the noise and clamor to reveal the truth in our hearts. It’s crucial for your salvation, sanctification and sustenance.
ACTION POINT:
Do you want to grow? Do you want to be a person of strength, steadfast in your faith? Then you must get into the Word of God.

A Sound Heart
“Let my heart be sound in Thy Statues: that I be not ashamed”
(Psalm 119:80).
We may regard this inspired prayer as containing within itself the assurance that those who keep close to the Word of God shall never have cause to be ashamed of doing so.
See, the prayer is for soundness of heart. A sound creed is good, a sound judgment concerning it is better, but a sound heart toward the truth is best of all. We must love the truth, feel the truth, and obey the truth, otherwise we are not truly sound in God’s statutes. Are there many in these evil days who are sound? Oh, that the writer and the reader may be two of this sort!
Many will be ashamed in the last great day, when all disputes will be decided. Then they will see the folly of their inventions and be filled with remorse because of their proud infidelity and willful defiance of the LORD; but he who believed what the LORD taught and did what the LORD commanded will stand forth justified in what he did. Then shall the righteous shine forth as the sun. Men much slandered and abused shall find their shame turned into glory in that day.
Let us pray the prayer of our text, and we may be sure that its promise will be fulfilled to us. If the LORD makes us sound, He will keep us safe.

Grain is crushed, though one certainly does not thresh it forever. The wheel of one’s wagon rolls over it, but his horses do not crush it. (Isa 28:28)
Many of us cannot be used to become food for the world’s hunger until we are broken in Christ’s hands. “Bread corn is bruised.” Christ’s blessing ofttimes means sorrow, but even sorrow is not too great a price to pay for the privilege of touching other lives with benediction. The sweetest things in this world today have come to us through tears and pain.
—J. R. Miller
God has made me bread for His elect, and if it be needful that the bread must be ground in the teeth of the lion to feed His children, blessed be the name of the Lord.
—Ignatius
“We must burn out before we can give out. We cease to bless when we cease to bleed.”
“Poverty, hardship and misfortune have pressed many a life to moral heroism and spiritual greatness. Difficulty challenges energy and perseverance. It calls into activity the strongest qualities of the soul. It was the weights on father’s old clock that kept it going. Many a head wind has been utilized to make port. God has appointed opposition as an incentive to faith and holy activity.
“The most illustrious characters of the Bible were bruised and threshed and ground into bread for the hungry. Abraham’s diploma styles him as ’the father of the faithful.’ That was because he stood at the head of his class in affliction and obedience.
“Jacob suffered severe threshings and grindings. Joseph was bruised and beaten and had to go through Potiphar’s kitchen and Egypt’s prison to get to his throne.
“David, hunted like a partridge on the mountain, bruised, weary and footsore, was ground into bread for a kingdom. Paul never could have been bread for Caesar’s household if he had not endured the bruising, whippings and stonings. He was ground into fine flour for the royal family.”
“Like combat, like victory. If for you He has appointed special trials, be assured that in His heart He has kept for you a special place. A soul sorely bruised is a soul elect.”

Dr John Morgan

Sunday Morning Service

========================================================================

March 5

“When saints do sleepy grow, let them come hither,
And hear how these two pilgrims talk together;

Does God really love you?
BIBLE MEDITATION:
And when they were come to the place which is called Calvary, there they crucified Him.
 Luke 23:33
DEVOTIONAL THOUGHT:
Calvary, the spot where Jesus carried our sins to the cross, had another name, “Golgotha” (“the place of the skull”), because of its skull-like rock formation. This same spot, known also as Mt. Moriah, is where Abraham offered Isaac to God. Did you know that Mt. Moriah, the Temple mount, and Mt. Calvary all share the same limestone ridge? They are all part of the same mountain.
Centuries before Jesus’ birth, God told Abraham, “I want you to take Isaac, your only son, the son you love, the son of promise, to a place I will show you. Not just any place—a certain place. And there you are to offer your son as a sacrifice.” That’s the very same spot where one day, centuries later, Jesus Christ would be crucified.
For Abraham and Isaac, God stepped in and provided a ram caught in a thicket as the substitute for Isaac, and Isaac was spared. On the day Jesus Christ was crucified, no such substitute spared Him—for He IS our Substitute.
ACTION POINT:
Think about what it cost God the Father to sacrifice His only Son on Calvary’s mountain. Think about what it cost the Lord Jesus to be that “ram caught in the thicket” for you. Let what God provided—and what His Son did—sink into the deepest part of your heart.
“Praise the Lamb, for sinners slain. Give Him glory, all ye people, for His blood can wash away each stain.”

God Himself Shall Work
“Now will I rise, saith the LORD; now will I be exalted; now will I lift up Myself”
(Isaiah 33:10).

When the spoilers had made the land as waste as if devoured by locusts, and the warriors who had defended the country sat down and wept like women, then the LORD came to the rescue. When travelers ceased from the roads to Zion, and Bashan and Carmel were as vineyards from which the fruit has failed, then the LORD arose. God is exalted in the midst of an afflicted people, for they seek His face and trust Him. He is still more exalted when in answer to their cries He lifts up Himself to deliver them and overthrow their enemies.

Is it a day of sorrow with us? Let us expect to see the LORD glorified in our deliverance. Are we drawn out in fervent prayer? Do we cry day and night unto Him? Then the set time for His grace is near. God will lift up Himself at the right season. He will arise when it will be most for the display of His glory. We wish for His glory more than we long for our own deliverance. Let the LORD be exalted, and our chief desire is obtained.

LORD, help us in such a way that we may see that Thou Thyself art working. May we magnify Thee in our inmost souls. Make all around us to see how good and great a God Thou art.

JUNE 19
Therefore, strengthen your listless hands and your weak knees, and make straight paths for your feet, so that what is lame may not be put out of joint but be healed. (Heb 12:12-13)
This is God’s word of encouragement to us to lift up the hands of faith, and confirm the knees of prayer. Often our faith grows tired, languid, and relaxed, and our prayers lose their force and effectiveness.
The figure used here is a very striking one. The idea seems to be that we become discouraged and so timid that a little obstacle depresses and frightens us, and we are tempted to walk around it, and not face it: to take the easier way.
Perhaps it is some physical trouble that God is ready to heal, but the exertion is hard, or it is easier to secure some human help, or walk around in some other way.
There are many ways of walking around emergencies instead of going straight through them. How often we come up against something that appalls us, and we want to evade the issue with the excuse:
“I am not quite ready for that now.” Some sacrifice is to be made, some obedience demanded, some Jericho to be taken, some soul that we have not the courage to claim and carry through, some prayer that is hanging fire, or perhaps some physical trouble that is half healed and we are walking around it.
God says, “Lift up the hands that hang down.” March straight through the flood, and lo, the waters will divide, the Red Sea will open, the Jordan will part, and the Lord will lead you through to victory.
Don’t let your feet “be turned out of the way,” but let your body “be healed,” your faith strengthened. Go right ahead and leave no Jericho behind you unconquered and no place where Satan can say that he was too much for you. This is a profitable lesson and an intensely practical one. How often have we been in that place. Perhaps you are there today. ”
—A. B. Simpson
Pay as little attention to discouragement as possible. Plough ahead as a steamer does, rough or smooth—rain or shine. To carry your cargo and make your port is the point.

Sunday Morning Service

========================================================================

March 5

“When saints do sleepy grow, let them come hither,
And hear how these two pilgrims talk together;

Do you fear death?
BIBLE MEDITATION:
O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory?
1 Corinthians 15:55
DEVOTIONAL THOUGHT:
A pastor who lost his wife in death was left to single-parent their little girl. She couldn’t fully understand all that had happened. But one day while she was in the car with her father, she saw the shadow of a truck passing by. The setting sun made the shadow huge, much bigger than the truck.
The little girl said, “Daddy, look at the big shadow.”
He said, “Sweetheart, would you rather be hit by the shadow of the truck or by the truck?”
“That’s easy,” she said, “I’d much rather be hit by the shadow.”
He said, “That’s right, darling. And it was only the shadow that hit Mama. The truck hit Jesus two thousand years ago at Calvary.”
That’s why in the Twenty-Third Psalm, David calls it “the valley of the shadow of death.” Jesus has taken the sting out of death and the dread out of the grave! He has become our victor!
Many people fear death—it’s a shadow looming over each of us, representing the unknown. Yet Jesus disarmed death and took away its power. The believer in Christ can have this assurance: beyond that shadow is the sunlight of the eternal morning.
ACTION POINT:
Talk with the Lord right now. Tell Him about something you fear. He already knows about it anyway. Picture yourself giving that fear over to Him. Place it in the nail-scarred Hand.

Our Field of Battle
“For the LORD your God is He that goeth with you, to fight for you against your enemies, to save you”   (Deuteronomy 20:4).

We have no enemies but the enemies of God. Our fights are not against men but against spiritual wickednesses. We war with the devil and the blasphemy and error and despair which he brings into the field of battle. We fight with all the armies of sin — impurity, drunkenness, oppression, infidelity, and ungodliness. With these we contend earnestly, but not with sword or spear; the weapons of our warfare are not carnal.

Jehovah, our God, abhors everything which is evil, and, therefore, He goeth with us to fight for us in this crusade. He will save us, and He will give us grace to war a good warfare and win the victory. We may depend upon it that if we are on God’s side God is on our side. With such an august ally the conflict is never in the least degree doubtful. It is not that truth is mighty and must prevail but that might lies with the Father who is almighty, with Jesus who has all power in heaven and in earth, and with the Holy Spirit who worketh His will among men.

Soldiers of Christ, gird on your armor. Strike home in the name of the God of holiness, and by faith grasp His salvation. Let not this day pass without striking a blow for Jesus and holiness.

============================================================================

JUNE 18
Then there was a voice from above the platform over their heads when they stood still. (Ezek 1:25)
That is the letting down of the wings? People so often say, “How do you get the voice of the Lord?” Here is the secret. They heard the voice when they stood and let down their wings.
We have seen a bird with fluttering wings; though standing still, its wings are fluttering. But here we are told they heard the voice when they stood and had let down their wings.
Do we not sometimes kneel or sit before the Lord and yet feel conscious of a fluttering of our spirits? Not a real stillness in His presence.
A dear one told me several days ago of a certain thing she prayed about, “But,” said she, “I did not wait until the answer came.”
She did not get still enough to hear Him speak, but went away and followed her own thought in the matter. And the result proved disastrous and she had to retrace her steps.
Oh, how much energy is wasted! How much time is lost by not letting down the wings of our spirit and getting very quiet before Him! Oh, the calm, the rest, the peace which come as we wait In His presence until we hear from Him!
Then, ah then, we can go like lightning, and turn not as we go but go straight forward whithersoever the Spirit goes. (Ezek. 1:1, 20)
“Be still! Just now be still!
Something thy soul hath never heard,
Something unknown to any song of bird,
Something unknown to any wind, or wave, or star,
A message from the Fatherland afar,
That with sweet joy the homesick soul shall thrill,
Cometh to thee if thou canst but be still.
“Be still! Just now be still!
There comes a presence very mild and sweet;
White are the sandals of His noiseless feet.
It is the Comforter whom Jesus sent
To teach thee what the words He uttered meant.
The willing, waiting spirit, He doth fill.
If thou would’st hear His message,
Dear soul, be still!”

“When saints do sleepy grow, let them come hither,
And hear how these two pilgrims talk together;

What legacy are you leaving behind?
BIBLE MEDITATION:
And when thy son asketh thee in time to come, saying, ‘What mean the testimonies and the statutes and the judgments which the Lord our God hath commanded you?’ Then thou shalt say unto thy son, ‘We were Pharaoh’s bondmen in Egypt and the Lord brought us out of Egypt with a mighty hand… And He brought us out from thence that He might bring us in.
Deuteronomy 6:20-23
DEVOTIONAL THOUGHT:
Fathers, you’re going to leave a legacy. The most important thing in your life, other than your relationship with God, is your family. God brought you out of your bondage, sorrow, and night, that He might bring you into His land of glorious fruitfulness and light.
The best thing most of us fathers could do is ask, “Oh, God, teach me how to walk in victory. Lord, get me out of this wilderness. I want to be a Spirit-filled Christian living in victory.”
May I tell you what’s wrong with many of our families? They’ve come out of Egypt but they haven’t “gone into Canaan.” They’re saved; they’re going to Heaven. But I’m convinced the reason the devil gets most of the kids out of good families is they’ve come out, but they’ve never gone in. They’re dumped in the desert, and they’re going around in circles. And the child never sees in them victory.
ACTION POINT:
Do your children see in you victory? Is there the principle of possession? Have they seen the corn and oil, the grapes, figs and pomegranates that Canaan represents: the fullness of the Lord Jesus Christ? Or do they just hear sermons about it on Sunday?

Possess, Not Only Profess
“For whosoever hath, to him shall be given, and he shall have more abundance”   (Matthew 13:12).

When the LORD has given to a man much grace, He will give him more. A little faith is a nest egg; more faith will come to it. But then it must not be seeming faith, but real and true. What a necessity is laid upon us to make sure work in religion and not to profess much, and possess nothing! For one of these days the very profession will be taken from us, if that be all we have. The threatening is as true as the promise.

Blessed be the LORD, it is His way when He has once made a beginning to go on bestowing the graces of His Spirit, till He who had but little, and yet truly had that little, is made to have abundance. Oh, for that abundance! Abundance of grace is a thing to be coveted, It would be well to know much but better to love much. It would be delightful to have abundance of skill to serve God but better still to have abundance of faith to trust in the LORD for skill and everything.

LORD, since Thou hast given me a sense of sin, deepen my hatred of evil. Since Thou hast caused me to trust Jesus, raise my faith to full assurance. Since Thou hast made me to love Thee, cause me to be carried away with vehement affection for Thee!

============================================================================

JUNE 17
It isn’t raining afflictions for you!
Patiently wait for God alone, my soul! For he is the one who gives me confidence. — Ps 62:5
Our too general neglect of looking for answers to what we ask, shows how little we are in earnest in our petitions. A husbandman is not content without the harvest; a marksman will observe whether the ball hits the target; a physician watches the effect of the medicine which he gives; and shall the Christian be careless about the effect of his labor?
Every prayer of the Christian, made in faith, according to the will of God, for which God has promised, offered up in the name of Jesus Christ, and under the influence of the Spirit, whether for temporal or for spiritual blessings, is, or will be, fully answered.
God always answers the general design and intention of His people’s prayers, in doing that which, all things considered, is most for His own glory and their spiritual and eternal welfare. As we never find that Jesus Christ rejected a single supplicant who came to Him for mercy, so we believe that no prayer made in His name will be in vain.
The answer to prayer may be approaching, though we discern not its coming. The seed that lies under ground in winter is taking root in order to a spring and harvest, though it appears not above ground, but seems dead and lost.
—Bickersteth
Delayed answers to prayer are not only trials of faith, but they give us opportunities of honoring God by our steadfast confidence in Him under apparent repulses.
—C. H. Spurgeon

Do Not Fear Those Who Can Kill Only the Body

Three things you must have to be happy!
BIBLE MEDITATION:
Rejoice in the Lord, ye righteous; and give thanks at the remembrance of His holiness.
Psalm 97:12
DEVOTIONAL THOUGHT:
Years ago, Reader’s Digest published an article which said that for a person to be happy and fulfilled, three things are necessary:
  •    First, something to believe.
  •    Second, someone to love.
  •    Third, something worthwhile to do.
That’s true—not because Reader’s Digest said it, but because God’s Word affirms it. There must be more to life than your next breath or your next step. And His name is Jesus Christ. He is indeed the fulfillment of all three of those needs:
  •    Jesus is the One to believe in.
  •    He is the Someone to love.
  •    His cause is the something worthwhile for you to do.
ACTION POINT:
Do you yearn for happiness? Every need can be met in your life through Jesus Christ.

Home Blessings Extended
“The LORD shall bless thee out of Zion: and thou shalt see the good of Jerusalem all the days of thy life”
(Psalm 128:5).

This is a promise to the God-fearing man who walks in the ways of holiness with earnest heed. He shall have domestic blessedness; his wife and children shall be a source of great home happiness. But then as a member of the church he desires to see the cause prosper, for he is as much concerned for the LORD’s house as for his own. When the LORD builds our house, it is but fitting that we should desire to see the LORD’s house builded. Our goods are not truly good unless we promote by them the good of the LORD’s chosen church.

Yes, you shall get a blessing when you go up to the assemblies of Zion; you shall be instructed, enlivened, and comforted, where prayer and praise ascend and testimony is borne to the great Sacrifice. “The LORD shall bless thee out of Zion.”

Nor shall you alone be profited; the church itself shall prosper; believers shall be multiplied, and their holy work shall be crowned with success. Certain gracious men have this promise fulfilled to them as long as they live. Alas! when they die the cause often flags. Let us be among those who bring good things to Jerusalem all their days. LORD, of Thy mercy make us such! Amen.

JUNE 16
It isn’t raining afflictions for you!
He named the second child Ephraim, saying, “Certainly God has made me fruitful in the land of my suffering. (Gen 41:52)
The summer showers are falling. The poet stands by the window watching them. They are beating and buffeting the earth with their fierce downpour. But the poet sees in his imaginings more than the showers which are falling before his eyes. He sees myriads of lovely flowers which shall be soon breaking forth from the watered earth, filling it with matchless beauty and fragrance. And so he sings:
“It isn’t raining rain for me, it’s raining daffodils;
In every dimpling drop I see wild flowers upon the hills.
A cloud of gray engulfs the day, and overwhelms the town;
It isn’t raining rain for me: it’s raining roses down.”
Perchance some one of God’s chastened children is even now saying, “O God, it is raining hard for me tonight.
“Testings are raining upon me which seem beyond my power to endure. Disappointments are raining fast, to the utter defeat of all my chosen plans. Bereavements are raining into my life which are making my shrinking heart quiver in its intensity of suffering. The rain of affliction is surely beating down upon my soul these days.”
Withal, friend, you are mistaken. It isn’t raining rain for you. It’s raining blessing. For, if you will but believe your Father’s Word, under that beating rain are springing up spiritual flowers of such fragrance and beauty as never before grew in that stormless, unchastened life of yours.
You indeed see the rain. But do you see also the flowers? You are pained by the testings. But God sees the sweet flower of faith which is upspringing in your life under those very trials.
You shrink from the suffering. But God sees the tender compassion for other sufferers which is finding birth in your soul.
Your heart winces under the sore bereavement. But God sees the deepening and enriching which that sorrow has brought to you.
It isn’t raining afflictions for you. It is raining tenderness, love, compassion, patience, and a thousand other flowers and fruits of the blessed Spirit, which are bringing into your life such a spiritual enrichment as all the fullness of worldly prosperity and ease was never able to beget in your innermost soul.
—J. M. McC.
SONGS ACROSS THE STORM
“A harp stood in the moveless air,
Where showers of sunshine washed a thousand fragrant blooms;
A traveler bowed with loads of care
Essayed from morning till the dusk of evening glooms
To thrum sweet sounds from the songless strings;
The pilgrim strives in vain with each unanswering chord,
Until the tempest’s thunder sings,
And, moving on the storm, the fingers of the Lord
A wondrous melody awakes;
And though the battling winds their soldier deeds perform,
Their trumpet-sound brave music makes
While God’s assuring voice sings love across the storm”

GODLINESS EXALTS A NATION, BUT SIN

Sunday Morning Service

========================================================================

March 5

“When saints do sleepy grow, let them come hither,
And hear how these two pilgrims talk together;
