Are You Willing to Run?
“…and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us”
(Hebrews 12:1 )
God has a plan for my life, and He has a plan for yours. It’s an individualized plan. Do you know it yet? More importantly, are you willing to do it?
If so, you need three things: discipline, direction, and determination.
The old King James says “run with patience” in Hebrews 12:1, but that’s not the best wording, for the word then did not mean “patience” as we think of it today. Instead, it meant endurance.
Are you up for this? Are you willing to develop endurance so you can run the race God has for your life? Are you on the racetrack? Listen, you’re burning daylight if you’re wandering around out there on the infield. You’re wasting time if you’re up there sitting in the grandstands. Time is short! And doesn’t care whether you’re nine or ninety, man or woman, rich or poor, God has a course for you. He has a race He wants you to run and the Bible says you’re to run the race that is set before you.
Have you ever taken time to get alone with God about this? I’ve said before, God does business with people who mean business. Take out a blank sheet of paper. It represents your life from this day on. Say, “God, You fill it in. Whatever Your will is, I’ll do it.” And sign your name at the bottom. The will of God—nothing more, nothing less, nothing else, nothing but!

“The Greatest thing that ever happened to me was when I realized that GOD forgave me of all my sins through the Death, Burial and Resurrection of His Son, Jesus and through my Faith in Him.”
“Be of Good Cheer”
“In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world” (John 16:33).
My LORD’s words are true as to the tribulation. I have my share of it beyond all doubt. The flail is not hung up out of the way, nor can I hope that it will be laid aside so long as I lie upon the threshing floor, How can I look to be at home in the enemy’s country, joyful while in exile, or comfortable in a wilderness? This is not my rest. This is the place of the furnace, and the forge, and the hammer. My experience tallies with my LORD’s words.
I note how He bids me “be of good cheer.” Alas! I am far too apt to be downcast. My spirit soon sinks when I am sorely tried. But I must not give way to this feeling. When my LORD bids me cheer up I must not dare to be cast down.
What is the argument which He uses to encourage me? Why, it is His own victory. He says, “I have overcome the world.” His battle was much more severe than mine. I have not yet resisted unto blood. Why do I despair of overcoming? See, my soul, the enemy has been once overcome. I fight with a beaten foe. O world, Jesus has already vanquished thee; and in me, by His grace, He will overcome thee again. Therefore am I of good cheer and sing unto my conquering LORD.
You will come to your grave in a full age, As stacks of grain are harvested in their season. (Job 5:26)
A gentleman, writing about the breaking up of old ships, recently said that it is not the age alone which improves the quality of the fiber in the wood of an old vessel, but the straining and wrenching of the vessel by the sea, the chemical action of the bilge water, and of many kinds of cargoes.
Some planks and veneers made from an oak beam which had been part of a ship eighty years old were exhibited a few years ago at a fashionable furniture store on Broadway, New York, and attracted general notice for the exquisite coloring and beautiful grain.
Equally striking were some beams of mahogany taken from a bark which sailed the seas sixty years ago. The years and the traffic had contracted the pores and deepened the color, until it looked as superb in its chromatic intensity as an antique Chinese vase. It was made into a cabinet, and has today a place of honor in the drawing-room of a wealthy New York family.
So there is a vast difference between the quality of old people who have lived flabby, self-indulgent, useless lives, and the fiber of those who have sailed all seas and carried all cargoes as the servants of God and the helpers of their fellow men.
—Louis Albert Banks
When the sun goes below the horizon he is not set; the heavens glow for a full hour after his departure. And when a great and good man sets, the sky of this world is luminous long after he is out of sight. Such a man cannot die out of this world. When he goes he leaves behind him much of himself. Being dead, he speaks.
When Victor Hugo was past eighty years of age he gave expression to his religious faith in these sublime sentences: “I feel in myself the future life. I am like a forest which has been more than once cut down. The new shoots are livelier than ever. I am rising toward the sky. The sunshine is on my head. The earth gives me its generous sap, but Heaven lights me with its unknown worlds.
“You say the soul is nothing but the resultant of the bodily powers. Why, then, is my soul more luminous when my bodily powers begin to fail? Winter is on my head, but eternal spring is in my heart. I breathe at this hour the fragrance of the lilacs, the violets, and the roses as at twenty years. The nearer I approach the end the plainer I hear around me the immortal symphonies of the worlds which invite me. It is marvelous, yet simple.”
(Luke 9:26 and Mark 8:38
If anyone is Ashamed of Me on earth, I shall be ashamed of him in Heaven.)
WHEN A CHRISTIAN DIES THEY ARE TAKEN BY ANGELS TO BE WITH JESUS: LUKE 16:22
WHEN AN UNBELIEVER DIES HIS SOUL GOES STRAIGHT TO HADES/HELL: LUKE 16: 22-23
TO BECOME A CHRISTIAN YOU MUST:
BELIEVE, ON FAITH, JOHN 3:16: THAT GOD SENT HIS ONLY BEGOTTEN SON, JESUS, TO THIS EARTH TO DIE ON THE CROSS AT CALVARY OVER 2,000 YEARS AGO, AS PAYMENT FOR ALL OF YOUR SINS, WAS BURIED IN A BORROWED TOMB, ROSE FROM THE DEAD ON THE 3RD DAY (EASTER) AND ASCENDED BACK INTO HEAVEN TO SIT ON HIS THRONE TO THE RIGHT-HAND OF HIS FATHER GOD AS OUR: HIGH-PRIEST, ADVOCATE, LORD AND SAVIOR;
PRAY TO GOD ADMITTING THAT YOU ARE A SINNER AND THAT YOU REPENT OF THOSE SINS;
ACCEPT JESUS CHRIST AS YOUR PERSONAL SAVIOR, ON FAITH;
THAT YOU ARE MAKING HIM THE LORD OF YOUR LIFE AND ARE GIVING HIM CONTROL OF YOUR LIFE, IN JESUS’ NAME, AMEN.
If you do those 4 things, The Holy Spirit will enter your soul and you will become a Born-Again Christian and have your ticket into Heaven when you die where you will be with all other Christians for Eternity where there is no end!
John 14:6 makes it very clear that there is no other way into Heaven.
God loves you and He wants you to be with Him in Heaven!
But there is a problem: The entire Human Race has been infected with a disease sin when Adam & Eve sinned in the Garden of Eden and there is only one cure for that sin:
You CANNOT earn your way into Heaven: The Price has already been paid by Christ’s Death on the Cross, kind of like if you were eating at a Restaurant and the Waitress comes by & tells you that someone else picked up your check!
I personally am a great sinner,
but I have a Great Savior.
I beg you to do these 4 things NOW! Those are probably the most important 3 letters in the English language! There may be no tomorrow for you; please accept Christ as your Personal Savior now and KNOW that all of your sins are forgiven and that you will go to Heaven when you die.
God Bless you,
Sinner saved by Grace

GODLINESS EXALTS A NATION, BUT SIN
IS A REPROACH TO ANY PEOPLE!
1 Thessalonians 5:6
Let us not sleep, as do others.
There are many ways of promoting Christian wakefulness. Among the rest, let me strongly advise Christians to converse together concerning the ways of the Lord. Christian and Hopeful, as they journeyed towards the Celestial City, said to themselves, “To prevent drowsiness in this place, let us fall into good discourse.” Christian enquired, “Brother, where shall we begin?” And Hopeful answered, “Where God began with us.” Then Christian sang this song-
“When saints do sleepy grow, let them come hither,
And hear how these two pilgrims talk together;
Yea, let them learn of them, in any wise,
Thus to keep open their drowsy slumb’ring eyes.
Saints’ fellowship, if it be managed well,
Keeps them awake, and that in spite of hell.”
Christians who isolate themselves and walk alone, are very liable to grow drowsy. Hold Christian company, and you will be kept wakeful by it, and refreshed and encouraged to make quicker progress in the road to heaven. But as you thus take “sweet counsel” with others in the ways of God, take care that the theme of your converse is the Lord Jesus. Let the eye of faith be constantly looking unto Him; let your heart be full of Him; let your lips speak of His worth. Friend, live near to the cross, and thou wilt not sleep. Labour to impress thyself with a deep sense of the value of the place to which thou art going. If thou rememberest that thou art going to heaven, thou wilt not sleep on the road. If thou thinkest that hell is behind thee, and the devil pursuing thee, thou wilt not loiter. Would the manslayer sleep with the avenger of blood behind him, and the city of refuge before him? Christian, wilt thou sleep whilst the pearly gates are open-the songs of angels waiting for thee to join them-a crown of gold ready for thy brow? Ah! no; in holy fellowship continue to watch and pray that ye enter not into temptation.

Why I Believe in the Return of Christ
BY JOHN MORGAN · SEPTEMBER 10, 2015
God continues to bless Sagemont Church. In the last two Sundays, over 100 people have made public decisions to make Jesus Christ Lord of their life. Pastors Chuck Schneider, Stuart Rothberg, and Jim Hastings have been teaching the scriptures as both the Old and New Testaments prophesy and proclaim that Jesus Christ is coming back to this earth again to claim and receive His children unto Himself. During the worship services, I am preaching the message and promise of the return of Christ.
One may ask, “Pastor, why do you passionately believe that Jesus is literally going to return to the earth?” These are a few reasons:
Why I Believe in the Return of Christ
- Jesus said He would! John 14:3 “I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also.”
- The entire Christian view of history demands it.
- The prophetic signs found in scripture are now clearly being fulfilled.
- Earthquakes all over the globe. Matthew 24:7 – (over 20,000 since 1971)
- Hearts will fail for fear. Luke 21:26 – Suicides are epidemic.
- Great explosions of learning. II Timothy 3:7 – People cannot discern the truth.
- Immorality abounds. Luke 17:26-27 – Like the days of Noah.
Scripture clearly teaches that Jesus will come to save His children and judge the rest.
God and Churchill
BY JOHN MORGAN · MAY 19, 2016
I have just completed reading one of the best books that I have read in the last twenty years. God and Churchill, written by one of our newest Sagemont members Jonathan Sandys (pronounced “sands”), great-grandson of Sir Winston Churchill. Wallace Henley, staff member at Second Baptist Church, Houston, assisted Jonathan in this profound book. The purpose of the book is to make clear “how the great leader’s sense of divine destiny changed his troubled world and offers help for ours.” Tyndale Momentum is the publisher. The book has many profound quotes. However, there is one that has impacted my life more than many others. Prime Minister of Great Britain, Margaret Thatcher, addressing the Church of Scotland General Assembly in 1988, said “I think back to many discussions in my early life when we all agreed that if you try to take the fruits of Christianity without its roots, the fruits will wither. And they will not come back unless you nurture the roots.”
One of the responsibilities of the Bride of Christ, the Church, is to keep Christianity on track and prevent the derailing of His ultimate purpose. The paganism that is engulfing us today will ultimately destroy us unless we return to the roots of our faith. “Our faith is built on nothing less than Jesus’ blood and righteousness.” It is on the solid rock we must stand for truly all other ground is sinking sand.
Note: The book God and Churchill is available in the Sagemont Bookstore.
